Yeager, Mississippi’s foremost authority on autism spectrum disorders.

What is required of you?  Two things!  First give us a call and discuss your situations with us.  Then second keep an open mind.  Our strategies are proven effective but are only limited by your imagination!

Autism

Once believed to be a low incidence disability, autism is now the second most common developmental disability in the world.  Autism is a neurologically based lifelong disability that is diagnosed behaviorally.

Though there is no cure for autism, there is hope through appropriate early intervention and proven, creative teaching strategies.  Experiencing exponential growth in incidence rate, autism is the most challenging educational dilemma today’s education system faces. Autism affects 1 out of every 150 children and knows no racial, ethnic, religious or socio-economic boundaries.  The increase in this disability is alarming and appropriate intervention relies heavily on obtaining assistance from specially trained professionals.  What is done now makes the difference in the futures of each individual.

Asperger Syndrome

Possibly the most misunderstood of the autism spectrum disorders, Asperger Syndrome (AS) is often confused with behaviors that seem rude, spoiled and eccentric.  Once not even considered a diagnosis AS individuals carried such labels as, “nerds, geeks and little professors.”  We now understand that these sets of behaviors are real and are indicative of the inability to understand social rules, language nuances and the expectations of others.

The most common features of AS are a lack of appropriate social behaviors, the inability to understand language pragmatics, and strict adherence to ritualistic and focuses repetitive behaviors.  Possessing a lack of insight into sarcasm and idioms, these literal thinkers see the world from a different view.

Now more readily identified these students are challenging schools in ways that requires a unique approach to meet their needs. The staff at The Yeager Group can help you better understand problematic behaviors exhibited by students.  Based on decades of experience with individuals with autism spectrum disorders, The Yeager Group staff provides a unique perspective to behavior challenges and their solutions.
